Who was Tibor Radó?
Tibor Radó was a Hungarian mathematician who immigrated to the United States in 1929. He joined the faculty of Ohio State University in 1930, and served as the Chairman of the Mathematics Department in 1946-1948.
Radó made contributions to several areas of mathematics. His greatest achievement was the solution of Plateau's Problem which is a problem in the area of Calculus of Variations.
Tibor Radó focused the last few years of his life on Computer Science. He is probably best remembered for inventing the Busy Beaver Game. In 1962, it was while playing this game that he discovered an interesting example of a non-computable function which he called the Busy Beaver Problem.
